From Idea to Solution: Get Hands-On with Our Vibe Coding Workshop for Primary Care

We’ve hosted webinars and multiple blog posts about AI and “vibe coding.” We’ve talked about what these emerging tools can do and what they might mean for healthcare. But when it comes to exploring new technology, nothing beats trying it yourself.

That’s why this fall, Amplify Care’s Healthcare Experience and Advancement Lab (HEAL) is hosting a free, in-person workshop where primary care clinicians and teams can get hands-on with AI-powered vibe-coding tools and explore how they could be used to tackle real workflow challenges.

No software development background required.

What could you build?

Vibe coding is an emerging approach to software development that uses generative AI to help people create simple digital tools by describing what they want in plain language. Instead of starting with code, you can start with a problem:

“Our team spends a lot of time doing this repetitive task. Is there a simpler way to organize it?”

Or:

“We need a better way to guide our team through this process.”

AI-powered tools can then help turn that idea into a working prototype that you can test, refine and improve.

For primary care, that opens up some interesting possibilities. Teams could experiment with tools to simplify administrative workflows, organize information, create checklists, support team processes, or make routine tasks more efficient. The point isn’t to replace existing clinical systems or build the next electronic medical record. In many cases, the opportunity is much smaller, and that’s what makes it exciting. A five-minute workflow improvement, repeated dozens of times a week, can make a meaningful difference to a busy primary care team.

Why hands-on experimentation matters

It’s one thing to hear about what AI-powered development tools could do. It’s another to sit down, describe a problem you’ve encountered in your own practice, and see what happens. Hands-on experimentation allows teams to:

Start with real problems.
Rather than learning technology for technology’s sake, participants can think about the everyday friction points in their own workflows and consider whether a simple digital solution could help.

Prototype quickly.
An idea that might previously have required technical expertise or a lengthy development process can potentially become a basic prototype in a much shorter period of time.

Learn by doing.
Trying these tools firsthand helps demystify them. Participants can get a better sense of what they are good at, where they struggle, and where human expertise remains essential.

Imagine what’s possible.
Sometimes the biggest benefit of a workshop isn’t the tool you build that evening. It’s leaving with a new way of thinking about problems — and a sense that your team can play a more active role in shaping digital solutions.

A new opportunity for frontline innovation

Primary care teams are constantly adapting workflows to meet the needs of patients, providers and staff. Yet many of the challenges they encounter are too specific or too small to warrant a traditional technology project. Vibe coding could help change that equation by lowering the barrier to experimentation. It gives people who understand the workflow firsthand an opportunity to participate more directly in designing and testing potential solutions.

Of course, a prototype is not the same thing as a production-ready healthcare application. Any tool that handles personal health information or influences clinical care requires appropriate privacy, security, data governance, safety and clinical review.

But before you can determine whether an idea is worth pursuing, you need a way to explore it. That’s where hands-on experimentation comes in.
