Walking the Walk: Amplifiers Try Out AI Tools to Reduce Administrative Burden
At Amplify Care, our mission is to support primary care and integrated care teams in using digital health and AI tools in ways that meaningfully reduce administrative burden, freeing up time and capacity for what matters most: direct patient care.
As new technologies continue to emerge, we believe it’s not enough to simply talk about their potential. To truly support healthcare teams, we need to understand these tools ourselves — how they work, where they add value, and where thoughtful implementation is essential. In other words, we aim to walk the walk.
That mindset shaped our recent in-person staff event, held on April 30, where Amplify Care team members came together for a full day of connection, learning, and hands-on exploration.
Aligning Strategy, People, and Practice
The day began with a town hall session, where staff received an update on our strategic planning work and some of the key themes emerging to guide Amplify Care’s future direction. We also shared how we are evolving our change management approach to more intentionally embed co-design and feedback loops — principles that are foundational to how we partner with healthcare teams across the system.
These conversations reinforced a core belief: sustainable change happens when the people doing the work are actively involved in shaping solutions.
Exploring “Vibe Coding” and AI-Enabled Workflows
In the afternoon, staff took part in an interactive session focused on a concept known as “vibe coding” — an emerging way of building software using generative AI. Rather than writing traditional code, participants used natural language prompts to create simple applications and automated workflows.
Working in small groups, staff identified common workflow pain points that most often emerge in their day-to-day work and used Microsoft Copilot Studio to experiment with building custom AI agents that could help carry out these repetitive or time-consuming tasks.
The exercise wasn’t about turning Amplifiers into programmers overnight. It was about building familiarity with the kinds of tools that are increasingly becoming part of modern workplaces and understanding how they can be applied thoughtfully and responsibly to support people in their day-to-day work.
We recognize that administrative burden has become a huge challenge across the healthcare system, even leading to a higher risk of clinician burnout. Clinicians and care teams are navigating increasing documentation requirements, coordination tasks, and operational pressures, all while striving to provide high-quality patient care. By creating space for experimentation, collaboration, and learning, our team hopes to better understand both the opportunities and limitations of these emerging technologies — and ultimately help healthcare organizations adopt them in ways that are practical, ethical, and people-centred.
As we continue to support healthcare teams navigating digital transformation, we remain focused on one guiding question: How can technology help people spend less time on administration and more time caring for patients?
