About Dr. David Perkins
Dr. David Perkins is a staff nephrologist at Trillium Health Partners (THP) in Mississauga. He graduated from medical school at Queen’s University and completed his internal medicine and nephrology training at McMaster University. Dr. Perkins was Division Head of Nephrology and the Service Medical Director of the Regional Chronic Kidney Disease Program at THP from 2013-2019 where he led the Program through transformative change in its physician model of care with a focus on patient-centeredness. He is a Lecturer at the University of Toronto, Mississauga Academy of Medicine. In 2018, Dr. Perkins was awarded the inaugural Physician Leadership Award by the Ontario Renal Network and in 2019 he was awarded Physician of the Year at THP. Dr. Perkins is passionate about the evolving role of health informatics and artificial intelligence in assisting family physicians with improved screening, detection, risk stratification and early evidence-based treatment of chronic kidney disease.
